Integrating AppEEARS and NEON API for efficient data download and analysis
October 29 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
The main goal of this workshop is to expose the participants to the functionalities of two widely used API in earth science and ecology using R programming. The Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis Ready Samples (AppEEARS) API allows you to access a variety of geospatial data from agencies such as from NASA and USGS. The API enables users to subset the data over space and time. National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) API lets you programmatically download and integrate hundreds of measurements and airborne observations in your workflow. We will choose a few LTER sites and learn to combine the functionalities of the two APIs for efficient integration and processing of a variety of data. Participants should know R and should have some exposure to environmental and geospatial data analysis.
