Community Earth System Modeling Tutorial — Oct. 15
October 15, 2013 @ 12:00 am
Are you interested in operating the Community Earth System Model (http://www2.cesm.ucar.edu/) using UM high-performance computing resources? If so, please consider attending a nuts-and-bolts tutorial that will be offered on October 15. Tutorial topics will include:
- Compiling and running CESM on the UM HPC system Flux
- Basic configurations of CESM
- Implementing a simple code change
- Formatting and basic visualization of model output.
The tutorial will be held on Tuesday, October 15 from 3:30-5 p.m. in room 2424 of the Space Research Building (SRB). Please register for the event by emailing Mark Flanner (firstname.lastname@example.org). The tutorial is intended to be “hands-on” for anyone who would like to participate actively. To do so, you will need an account on Flux (http://cac.engin.umich.edu/getting-started), an MToken (http://cac.engin.umich.edu/resources/login-nodes/activating-your-mtoken), and a laptop with ability to ssh onto Flux. If you intend to participate actively, please include your flux user name in your registration email, so that you can be granted access to a special computing queue during the tutorial. Passive participation in the tutorial is also welcome.
