Moab Scheduler training available, October 24-26
October 24, 2012 @ 12:00 am - October 26, 2012 @ 12:00 am
LSAIT plans to conduct Moab Cluster Suite training, provided by Adaptive Computing (the instructor is Shawn Hoopes). If you are tired of the mystery of the Moab cluster scheduler, and would like to be more effective at understanding and administering this scheduler, or you are interested in learning more about the technical challenges of managing batch schedulers for high-performance computing clusters, then this class is for you! The training session will consume three days and will take place October 24-26 from 9-5 each day. Currently, there is space reserved in the LSA ISS Media Center, 2001 MLB. The training room provides Macs with large, high-resolution displays, or you can bring a laptop or similar device capable of making ssh connections. There is a maximum of fifteen seats in the class, and a few are still available. The cost for the training will be $650 per person. (By way of comparison, the course normally costs $2,200 per person, plus travel and lodging expenses in Provo, which raises the total cost to about $3,500, so this is a great deal.) Because LSA considers this training to be worthwhile, LSAIT will cover the cost for any LSA departmental IT staff who wish to attend. Other schools and colleges should feel free to offer similar incentives for their own staff if they wish. Please respond to LSAIT (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the uniqnames of the people you’d like to register for the class, and, if appropriate, a shortcode to be charged and the name of an authorized signer. The remaining seats in the class will be filled on a first come-first served basis.
